Fire Water Damage Restoration
FIRE WATER DAMAGE RESTORATION
The most common causes of damage to residential and commercial structures are fire and water. Both instances can require a significant amount of restoration to correct.
Water damage is the most common culprit, coming from a variety of sources. Sometimes the damage is minimal or slow growing, in the case of leaky windows, loose fitting pipes, etc. Or it can be quick and disastrous in the event of flash flooding or sewer malfunctions. It can also leave residual problems such as mold that could continue to present problems for years to come.
In the event of catastrophic water damage, it is important to begin the restoration process immediately. Remove all furniture and other loose items from the damaged area. Use high powered industrial vacuums to remove as much of the water as possible, and keep the area well ventilated to complete the drying out process. Clean carpets and hardwood floors thoroughly, and be prepared to repair or completely rebuild certain areas of the structure itself.
Keep an eye out for the onset of mold. Mold is a problem that, once it has a foothold, can be difficult to eradicate. Many fire and water damage companies offer mold remediation services as a part of their restoration process.
In the event of a fire, the most difficult areas, aside from structural damage, will be from smoke and soot damage. Soot is oily and can be difficult to remove, and smoke odors can linger for years if not professionally treated.
